April Showers Bring April Flowers

The rain showers we had in Philadelphia on Friday night and into Saturday seemed to be the last push the backyard needed to start blooming. I love this time of year when the yard has gone without being mowed since fall and some of the flowering weeds have had a chance to grow. This morning there was actual color in the backyard.

Farewell Petal (1956-2008)

The Philadelphia Zoo and the people of Philadelphia suffered a loss today. Petal, the oldest African elephant in an American zoo – died suddenly this morning – at the age of 52.

A little excitement tonight
