Brian and I did our part to stimulate the economy. As some of you know I got a new computer last month with my IRS refund. It’s a very very nice PC. It’s about as fully loaded as one can be right now without going completely crazy. After a month of hearing me talk about how nice it is Brian finally decided he needed one too. So we went out tonight and got him the exact same PC. While we were there we got me a new digital camera so I can take pictures on the DC trip next week.

Face detection technology locates up to 10 faces and automatically adjusts the focus and exposure for improved digital still images

16 scene modes include portrait, sports, landscape, night landscape, night portrait, flower, sunset, backlight, candlelight, manner/museum, self-portrait, text, beach, snow, fireworks and children; HD picture capture lets you take 16:9 widescreen photos

Through-the-lens (TTL) multizone, center-zone and selectable zone autofocus; manual focus; multipattern, center-weighted and spot metering

2 burst shooting modes: first burst (2 fps up to 5 frames) and last burst (2 fps up to 5 frames)

Auto, daylight, tungsten, fluorescent and open shade white balance controls to achieve natural tones under different lighting conditions

Built-in flash with auto, flash-off, fill and red-eye modes

Color modes include natural color, high color, low color, sepia and black-and-white for creative images

Records QuickTime MPEG-4 HD (1024 x 720) video clips at 30 fps, VGA (640 x 480) video clips at 30 fps and QVGA (320 x 240) video clips at 30 fps; make picture from video feature lets you turn video frames into printable still images
