		<description>I never really thought about the advantageous aspects of suppressing memories.  I&#039;m not sure if I understand if they are saying that the psychiatric disorders are a result of a compromised memory suppression or the other way around.  If the former, then maybe this explains why some people who go through extremely traumatic events seem to have no long lasting adverse effects while others are permanently scarred by the same experience.
