Simple Device Boosts Gas Efficiency

Tagged with:

According to Rongjia Tao, chair of Temple’s Physics Department, the small device consists of an electrically charged tube that can be attached to the fuel line of a car’s engine near the fuel injector. With the use of a power supply from the vehicle’s battery, the device creates an electric field that thins fuel, or reduces its viscosity, so that smaller droplets are injected into the engine. That leads to more efficient and cleaner combustion than a standard fuel injector, he says.

Six months of road testing in a diesel-powered Mercedes-Benz automobile showed that the device increased highway fuel from 32 miles per gallon to 38 mpg, a 20 percent boost, and a 12-15 percent gain in city driving.

Dear Journalists, Don’t Be Suckers…

Tagged with:

Journalists, start your skepticism.
In covering the proposed $700 billion bailout of Wall Street don’t repeat the failed lapdog practices that so damaged our reputations in the rush to war in Iraq and the adoption of the Patriot Act. Don’t assume that Congress must act instantly, as so many news stories state as if it was [...]

Paul Slansky: A Note to Bill Clinton

Given that we would never have had the odious George W. Bush in the White House in the first place if it wasn’t for your blow jobs, Bill, it seems obvious that you owe it to the people of this country, and especially to the parents whose kids died in the Iraq War that Gore [...]

McCain Campaign Tries to Capitalize on Palin Bump

Tagged with:

After the initial scramble and general freak out following Governor Palin’s selection, the Obama campaign and their supporters seem to have found their bearings and are now bringing focus back to the issues and the lies coming from the McCain campaign. When Karl Rove thinks your ads fail on a truth test, you have to worry.

The Living Room Candidate

Tagged with:

The Living Room Candidate demonstrates how advertising techniques and styles have evolved over the years, even as basic strategy has remained the same. The exhibition includes such landmark ads as the groundbreaking “Eisenhower Answers America” spots of 1952, the notorious “daisy girl” ad from Lyndon Johnson’s 1964 campaign, Ronald Reagan’s “Morning in America” ads from 1984, and the controversial attack ads run by George Bush’s 1988 campaign. Site visitors may also see how the strategies and techniques of persuasion have been played out more recently in third-party and web ads, such as the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and MoveOn commercials from the 2004 election.
