Maybe the media just enjoys a freak show. What could create a more bizarre spectacle than this odd couple?

Yea, I got all that, Lieberman has a lot of support from the prowar factions of both parties and impeccable pro-Israel credentials so I can see why he'd be useful to help McCain appeal to hawkish Democrats. He's also handy to have around to explain to McCain the differences between Sunni's and Shiites.

My question I guess is about the numbers. Are there more hawkish Democrats than there are socially conservative Republicans? It seems like hes going after a relatively small set of voters at the cost of alienating a bigger set.

I like Joe - but - on the McCain ticket - nope..that won't win over conservatives like myself. I agree with Erik up there...I think McCain is tryin harder to get the moderate to conservative dems instead of the conservative right republicans. Oh well..just another reason why I won't vote for him.

> Mr McCain is working hard to win over hawkish Democrats to his camp

Lieberman is known to be pro-war. He also is said to vote more along Republican lines in the Senate.
