I managed to make it four days this time before getting a blister on my foot.  This is a new record for me.  At SpeechTEK West last February it was day 3, and at SpeechTEK/CRM in August, it was the very first day.  I think its the venue.  This place has a great back hall for  "employees only" that I’ve been using to move between session rooms between speakers.  It takes about the equivalent of two city blocks of walking off of each round.   Also, Librarians kick ass.  They all are computer literate and know how to use the laptops we provide for their PowerPoint presentations and know how to move a presentation from a flash drive to the laptop.  At other shows, the marketing types doing the presentations are often lost when you take them away from their own PCs.

Or, the foot health could be due to the scenery.  This place is just gorgeous.  I hope Brian can come with me next year and we can take a couple of extra days after the show to do some site seeing.  There are lots of tours and things to do around here that I just haven’t had time to enjoy.

Dave P. is taking me out to dinner tonight to thank me for saving his ass – I mean his Outlook mail, after his hard drive died a few weeks ago.  It should be fun.  I was considering just going to see Into the Wild tonight at the cute little theater across the street from the Monterey Marriott.   Since everything ends a bit earlier today I’m hoping to get out my camera and take some photos before dinner.   Its been too dark to take good pictures by the time I finish each day so far.

Update:  Brian just pointed out that the reason I didn’t get blisters is because I stole his shoes to take on this trip.  He’s right.
