I had read a fair amount about Priscilla Owens in one of Molly Ivins’ books.  The main case that stuck in my mind was the Willie Searcy case against Ford over a defective seatbelt that resulted ina  14 year old boy ending up as a “ventilator-dependent quadripelegic”.  You can read a summary of the case at Body and Soul but there are lots of other places on the web if you use this Google Search.

I just want to make people aware that the phillibuster used to prevent an up or down vote on this particular Bush appointee was not based on petty or partician reasons.  I grabbed this info from www.independentjudiciary.com.  I hope people take a good look at how their Senators vote on this appointee and hold them accountable.  I am already writing my letters to Santorum and Specter based on thier votes. (Both will most assuredly vote Yes on her appointment.)
